Massachusetts hasn\u2019t managed to deploy ANY chargers through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) \u00a0program in four years even though the funding is available. Jordan Wolman\u2019s summary (Massachusetts\u2019s slow adoption of EV chargers through federal program is \u2018mystifying\u2019 to transit advocates, June 4) is helpful, but the lack of information from the state is astounding. If Massachusetts is serious about meeting climate goals, we don\u2019t have time for this painfully slow rollout.<\/p>\n

Drivers like me, who were motivated to buy an EV to reduce carbon emissions and help the state meet its climate goals, aren\u2019t getting much support from the Commonwealth. We don\u2019t even know when this situation will be remedied, although there\u2019s some hope in Wolman\u2019s reporting that installations may begin soon in Greenfield and a few locations in the eastern part of the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s downright shameful that Massachusetts hasn\u2019t figured out how to build the public infrastructure to support EV drivers. MassDOT must accelerate this rollout and provide Massachusetts drivers with a clear timeline. Drivers deserve better, and so does the planet.<\/p>\n
