Suspect arrested in July hit-and-run that injured a 12-year-old

At 8:40 a.m. on Monday, police arrested Jayson Wilson for an electric scooter hit-and-run that injured a 12-year-old girl on July 9.

The Cambridge Police Department issued a press release noting that Wilson was arrested in Everett by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, with assistance from the Everett Police Department and the State Police technical services.

Wilson was  arraigned later on Monday in the Cambridge District Court on multiple charges, including assault and battery with a dangerousweapon causing serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of personal injury, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

The July 9 incident  occurred on Vassar Street in Cambridge, when a 12-year-old girl was seriously injured after  after being struck by a man on an electric scooter,  allegedly  Wilson. 

Prior to the arrest, the Cambridge Police Department had released a photo of Wilson and asked for the public’s help in identifying him. An update shared on July 30 said they had successfully identified him.
